IRVINE, Calif. – The Chaminade University women’s volleyball team on Monday was named as the Pacific West Conference Team of the Week after a pair of home wins over the weekend.
The Silverswords ran their winning streak to six after sweeping past Academy of Art and Fresno Pacific. All six victories have been in straight sets, running their consecutive sets won streak to a school-record 18 consecutive. The ‘Swords are now 9-6 overall and 4-0 in the conference, one of just two teams who still own undefeated conference records as the PacWest enters its third week of league play. Point Loma is the other conference unbeaten.
The PacWest’s individual honors went to Azusa Pacific’s Annaka Jorgenson (Player of the Week) and Point Loma’s Courtney Dyer (Defender).
Chaminade gets this week off but embarks on their all-important trip to Southern California next week, starting Monday, Sept. 26 at Biola (6-5 overall, 3-1 PacWest). They will also face Concordia University Irvine (6-5, 3-1), Point Loma (8-3, 3-0) and Azusa Pacific (5-5, 2-1).
