HILO, Hawai’i – The Hawai’i Hilo women’s soccer team went 2-0 last week with wins over Chaminade (2-0) and Dominican (3-1) to leap eight spots to No. 7 in the latest United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Rankings released Tuesday.
UH Hilo was ranked at the No. 15 spot last week after having made its debut on the top 25 rankings earlier at No. 17 in the week two poll.
The Vulcans also overtook the top spot in the West Region rankings as previous-No. 1 Point Loma Nazarene went 1-1 last week with a 2-1 loss to Concordia Irvine in non-conference play.
Dallas Baptist University (6-0-1) remained atop the Division II rankings after notching a 2-0 win over then-No. 10 West Texas A&M last Saturday. The rest of the top five also stayed intact.
In addition to PLNU, other teams that lost or were leapfrogged by the Vulcans were Southern New Hampshire, College of Saint Rose, Central Oklahoma, Lee University and McKendree.
