HONOLULU – Chaminade University first-year women’s basketball head coach Michael Edwards announced Wednesday the final recruit to the 2022-23 team in transfer Olivia Crigler.
The 5-foot-7 shooting guard comes to Chaminade after spending the past two seasons at Pacific Union College in Angwin, California. A native of Hebron, Kentucky, Crigler led the California Pacific Conference (Cal Pac) in scoring at a program-record 20.0 points per game clip which ranked 13th nationally in the NAIA. In her final seven games in a Pioneers uniform, Crigler averaged 19.7 points including a season-high 34 in a win over Cal Maritime on Feb. 12.
Crigler set another single-season Pacific Union record with an 84.2 free throw percentage. A long-range threat, she was fourth in the Cal Pac with 48 3-pointers and seventh in 3-point percentage at 33.8 percent.
“Our coaching staff is thrilled about the addition of Olivia,” Edwards said. “She brings high level scoring from the perimeter and has the ability to seamlessly switch between both guard positions. Additionally, Olivia is a stellar performer in the classroom and will bring added leadership and understanding of the collegiate game to our young core.
“I am eager to see her within our system both offensively and defensively and I think she is going to give Silversword fans many highlight moments during her Chaminade career.”
Crigler joins freshman Selena Buttery (Brockway HS; Brockway, Pa.), Dezeray Carter (Sacred Hearts Academy; Honolulu), Juliana Losalio-Watson (Konawaena HS; Kealakekua, Hawai’i), Destiny Piekarsky Little Fork-Big Falls HS; Littlefork Minn.) and Lishae Scanlan (Pearl City HS; Pearl City, O’ahu, Hawai’i) as the six-member Silverswords recruiting class.
