After Sunday’s round at San Luis Obispo Golf Club, the University of Hawai’i Rainbow Wahine women’s team golf team leads in the Big West Championship, after the first round, lead the team and individual standings.
The Rainbow Wahine Golf Team, who are looking to win their first Big West title, scored a 297. This is a one-stroke lead over the Cal Poly Mustangs at 298.
Then come the UC Riverside Highlanders at 302, the Long Beach State Beach at 305, The Cal State Fullerton Titans at 305, the Cal State Northridge Matadors at 310, the UC Irvine Anteaters at 318, the UC Davis Aggies at 318, and the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners at 333.
Rainbow Wahine, Monica Johnson, a freshman, holds the individual lead with a 2-under 70. Johnson is the only golfer below par.
This is UH’s best start since Round 1 in 2015, when they were in second. Hawaii finished as the runner-up in that in 2015.
The tournament will continue today. UH will tee off with Cal Poly and UC Riverside. Tee times begin at 9:10 a.m. PT.
