GOODYEAR, Ariz.–Tori Hironaga led the UH Hilo women’s golf team Friday, Apr. 1 at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic hosted by Western New Mexico.
Hironaga carded six-above-par in the first round of the tournament, leading the Vulcans (78). Hironaga tied for 63rd followed by Kaelyn Uchida and Kailey Oki (T85, 80), Carli Shimokihara (T94, 81) and Tia Kualii (T119, 83).
UHH finished the first round 24th of the 28 teams (+31), but the six teams in front of them are all just one stroke apart. Simon Fraser is right above UH Hilo in 23rd place (+30).
The top three teams are Cal State Monterey Bay (-1), Cal State East Bay (+9), and Cal State LA (+9).
