HILO, Hawai’i–A rainy day in Hilo caused the resumed 2:30pm game from yesterday (Apr. 11) to be concluded in the sixth inning and the Apr. 12 games to be canceled.
Yesterday’s 2:30pm game resumed in the top of the third, bases loaded with two outs. Tehani Seto was on the mound for the Vulcans with the Vulcans up, 5-2. The Urban Knights ended up tying the game 5-5 by the end of their at-bats off a dropped pop fly and a first and third play.
The Vulcans bounced back in the fourth inning. Jayda Favela started the inning by working a walk and then Brandee Chinen and Skylar Thomas produced back-to-back singles (6-5). An Urban Knight throwing error allowed Chinen to score, followed by a hard-hit double by Chloe Domingo that scored Thomas (8-5). Nikki Zielinski was responsible for the final run, scoring Arissa Lugo (who walked) with a sacrifice fly (9-5).
Malia Risdall relieved Seto in the fifth, receiving her first save of the season. Risdall’s offense produced another two runs in the fifth and one more in the sixth that would leave the Vulcans victorious, 12-6.
Today’s hot bats were Favela (1-2), Thomas (2-3), Lugo (2-2), and Domingo (3-4). Zielinski led UHH with three RBIs.
