In the third game of the series the UH Hilo Vulcan softball team lost to the Dominican Penguins. Losing the 0-1 game in the tenth.

Alexis Lacy was the PacWest Pitcher-of-the Week and threw an amazing game against the Penguins. She threw seven no-hit innings and was just one batter away from a perfect game. In the third, she hit the lead-off hitter.

Vulcan Lacy pitched Monday’s first seven innings to a minimum number of batters, even though only one batter was allowed on base. Because the batter who was hit, by the freshman, ended up getting called out on a double play, Lacy faced only 21 batters.

Dominican’s first two hits of the game came in the eighth inning. The Penguins did not score until the tenth. The international tiebreaker rule was in effect and Dominican scored their run with a sacrifice fly to win the game.

Shelby Keltner, Dominican hurler, did not give the Vulcans a chance to come back. Keltner, who allowed only three hits and did not allow any extra-base hits, struck out seven Vulcans during the 10-inning duel.

The Vulcans had 3 hits by Brandee Chinen and Jayda Favela and Chloe Domingo
