Quintan Akaka had 16 points, and Hudson Yarbrough added 13 to help Baldwin High School Bears boys basketball team defeat the Kamehameha Maui Warriors 56 to 42 on Wednesday night at Wailuku’s at the Bears Jon Garcia Gym.
After jumping out to an early 21-6 lead in the first quarter. Akaka scored 11 points for the Bears as the lead 32-13 at the half.
This was a Maui Interscholastic League game. The Baldwin Bears record improved to 2-0 and Kamehameha dropped to 0-2.
Two football players, fresh from their appearance in the Division II state champion game, led the Kamehameha Maui Warriors. Kale Spencer, a star two-way football player, scored 16 points. Po’okela Aiu was a top Warrior wide receiver and added 11 points.
