WAIPAHU, O’ahu – The Hawai’i women’s soccer team saw its four-match unbeaten streak come to an end Sunday in a 2-0 loss to Long Beach State at the Waipi’o Peninsula Soccer Complex.
The two teams each finished the match with 13 shot attempts, but LBSU (4-4-4, 3-0-1 Big West) used a pair of first-half goals to provide the difference while Hawai’i (4-3-2, 1-1-2 Big West) put seven of its 13 shots on frame but couldn’t capitalize.
Long Beach State struck first, as Cherrie Cox found the back of the net on a give-and-go with Sophie Jones in the 17th minute. The Beach added another goal in the 31st minute when Cox fired a cross to the front of the goal that was headed in by Lena Silano, making it 2-0.
