TULSA, Okla.—University of Hawai’i men’s tennis player, 24th-ranked Andre Ilagan opened the ITA All-American Championships’ Main Draw Round of 64 with an upset of 14th-ranked Ronnie Hohmann on Wednesday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center (University of Tulsa).
Ilagan held off LSU’s Hohmann by a break in the first set, 7-5. Hohman returned the favor taking Set 2 by a break, 6-4 to even the match at a set apiece. But Ilagan blanked Hohman in the third to cruise to the victory, 7-5, 4-6, 6-0. With the win, Ilagan advances to the Round of 32 where he will take on Miami’s 121st-ranked Dan Martin on Thursday at 6:30 a.m. HT in Tulsa, Okla..
