Officials from Sentry Tournament of Champions announced last week that Phil Mickelson, the 45 time PGA Tour winner, will be returning to Hawaii to compete at the 2022 Sentry Tournament of Champions on Maui.
Mickelson is a two-time Sentry Tournament of Champions winner and will be joining a star-studded winners-only field when The Plantation Course at Kapalua returns to the event from Jan. 5-9.
Mickelson has qualified for the Sentry Tournament of Champions by his historic win at PGA Championship at Ocean Course at Kiawah in May. He became both the oldest major winner and the first player to win a major in his fifties.
Mickelson became the fourth player in four different decades to win tour events and was promoted to T8 on all-time wins lists.
This victory marked the 30th anniversary of his win at the 1991 Northern Telecom Open, which was his first PGA Tour title as an amateur. It also marks the longest time span between the first and last tour victory.
The 2022 Sentry Tournament of Champions field will be represented by Patrick Cantlay (FedExCup winner), World No. Jon Rahm, World No. 2 Collin Morikawa and Brooks Koepka, Hideki Yamayama, and Bryson deChambeau.
Mickelson is among the 40 qualified players for the tournament.
