Chaminade University cross country runners Zoe McDonough (Fremont, Calif./Washington) and Peter Jan Ramos (Waipahu, O’ahu, Hawai’i/Waipahu) are the Hawai’i Pacific Health Silversword Female and Male Athletes of the Week for competition for Sept. 12-18.
McDonough captured women’s medalist honors at the team’s own Chaminade Invitational on Sept. 17, finishing the 5-kilometer race at Patsy T. Mink Central O’ahu Regional Park in 20 minutes, 13.8 seconds. She became the first Silversword women’s runner with a first-place finish in a 5-kilometer or longer event in 31 years and first medalist since 2012.
Ramos had a career-best sixth-place overall finish in the men’s race, completing the 7.288-k course in 29:36.6. His second-place team finish was also his highest in his two-year running career.
