Matheiowetz Clinches CoSIDA All-District Honors
GREENWOOD, Ind.–UH Hilo’s men’s tennis player, Luca Matheiowetz, secured a spot on CoSIDA’s 2022 All-District Men’s At-Large Team.
Matheiowetz, a sophomore from Munich, Germany, is one of 11 players named to the CoSIDA All-District First team from the NCAA Division II west region, which encompasses all teams and at-large sports from the Pacific West Conference, the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
Matheiowetz is now eligible for Academic All-American consideration which will take place in the next couple of weeks. UH Hilo has only had two athletes receive CoSIDA All-America honors. Matheiowetz was a strong middle-court player for the Vulcans this season. His overall record was 11-2 from the third, fourth and fifth courts. He is 2-0 from the third court, 4-0 from the fourth, and 5-2 from the fifth.
Matheiowetz has a 3.90 grade point average in Accounting and was one of only four players from the PacWest chosen to the select team. The CCAA had two players honored and the GNAC had five.
