Following a Monday announcement from the O’ahu Interscholastic Association (KIF) that spectators were banned from future sporting events, the Kaua’i Interscholastic Federation announced a reminder Tuesday to spectators of KIF sporting events.
The Reminder: Remember that all Kaua’i Interscholastic Federation (KIF) competitors must wear masks when competing in indoor and outdoor KIF events.
The KIF reminds spectators that they must sit in their “Ohana” groups and only lower their face mask while eating or drinking.
These simple guidelines will ensure that our student athletes enjoy the season for which they have worked so hard.
Those with COVID symptoms should not be attending sporting events.
The public will have access to outdoor seating for both boys and girls soccer at the first scheduled games today. Indoor seating will be limited for girls’ basketball and boys’ basketball.
The OIA stated Monday in a Star-Advertiser article that, due to increasing COVID-19 cases, spectators would not be permitted at any future sporting events.
Refunds for tickets purchased will also be made.
This is a change from an earlier announcement that allowed only fully vaccinated people to attend OIA sporting events beginning in October.
