Six wins later, this unlikely run continues into Friday’s ILH championship match against Saint Louis Crusaders the regular-season winner.
Kaleb Tenn, a Raiders sophomore, almost pitched a complete game. He fell one out short of. He allowed just four hits in a 6-1 victory over the Kamehameha Warriors, getting the win in the league tournament at Central Oahu Regional Park on Wednesday.
Travis Ujimori scored two runs and had two hits. Kaimana Lau Kong was 2-for-3 and had three RBIs for the Raiders. ‘Iolani was 4-11 before going on a six-game winning streak. Recording wins over the Buffanblu, Crusaders, Spartans, and Wolfpack.
After losing the regular season game to the Kamehameha Warriors10-0 in five innings, and then being blown out by the Mid-Pacific Owls 12-4 to begin the tournament, nobody believed that finish could be possible.
With a win against Punahou on Saturday, the Raiders secured the league’s third berth in the state tournament. They then won the league tournament by eliminating a six-run deficit with a win against Warriors Monday.
