CHAMPAIGN, Ill.–University of Hawai’i men’s tennis player Andre Ilagan will make his NCAA Singles Championship debut on Monday, May 23, 2022 at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in Champaign, Ill. Ilagan, who finished the regular season ranked No. 40, will take on Alabama’s Filip Planinsek in the opening round with the first serve scheduled for 12:00 p.m. HT.
Ilagan is just the second Rainbow Warrior to compete in the NCAA Men’s Singles Championships. He earned the Big West’s automatic bid as the highest ranked player in the league at the end of the season. The first UH player to compete at the NCAA men’s singles tournament was Andreas Weber, who earned an at-large bid in 2007 when UH was still a member of the Western Athletic Conference. The NCAA singles tournament features 64 of the nation’s top competitors and runs from Mary 23-28 on the campus of the University of Illinois.
