The University of Hawaii sailing team won its long-awaited homecoming. After capturing a dramatic win in the Peter Wenner Rainbow Invitation over the weekend at Keehi Lagoon.
The first event hosted by the University of Hawaii since 2020. It was the Rainbows sixth consecutive regatta win.
Two points behind going into the final round of rotations, Bastien Rae and Devon Stapleton stepped up and won their division A races.
Sam Kimmel and Samuel Patton won the B division races to give UH Black a narrow victory of 71-69 over Salve Regina University, the runner up.
In the 12-school competition, Hawaii had four teams entered. The UH Black team was one of them.
With 135 points, the Rainbow Wahine, which was led by Mercy Tangredi, Kelsie Grant Division A and Morgan Carew, and Anna KalabukhovaDivision B came in fifth place overall.
The Rainbow Green of Trey Summers, Taylor Ledgerwood, Theodore Knobel, and Lily Simpson finished in sixth place with 136 point.
For seventh place, the Rainbow White team was led by Hayden Lahr and Jemma Baird. Frances Tarpeyy-Schwed, Chloe Long were all female.
