The Rainbow Warriors are in serious trouble as University of Hawaii’s starting quarterback Chevan Cordeiro announced Wednesday that he was leaving the program.

Cordeiro announced via social media that he plans to enter the transfer portal. This sent shock waves through the Hawaii sports community.

“This is college football reality and it hurts I think for many Hawaii fans because this was a home-grown talent,” Kanoa Leahey, Spectrum Sports play-by–play analyst, told Hawaii News Now. “A guy who has played at a high level in many different situations wearing the University of Hawaii uniform. It’s going to be a little back to the drawing boards type of situation when it comes to the quarterback situation.”

This announcement sparked what is quickly becoming one of UH’s most turbulent days since Nick Rolovich’s departure.
