IRVINE, Calif. – Chaminade University midfielder Gracie Bowers (Murrieta, Calif./California Baptist/Vista Murrieta HS) has been named the Pacific West Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for competition between Sept. 26 and Oct. 2.
Bowers accounted for three of the Silverswords’ five goals in their wins over Academy of Art and Dominican University of California. The junior (by athletic eligibility) scored in two goals against the Urban Knights for her first career multi-goal match. She followed it by powering in the insurance goal in Saturday’s victory over the Penguins.
With four goals on the season, Bowers is tied for third in the PacWest in goals and is third in the conference with a shots on-goal percentage of 1.63.
The ‘Swords’ 2-0 start in the PacWest is their best ever in program history. On Friday, they will face the conference’s other 2-0 squad in the University of Hawai’i Hilo in a PacWest match at Saint Louis Field. The Vulcans, currently ranked No. 7 nationally in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, defeated the Silverswords in a 2-0 non-conference matchup on Sept. 23 in Hilo. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m.
