Chaminade University women’s soccer midfielder Gracie Bowers (Murrieta, Calif./California Baptist/Vista Murrieta HS) and men’s soccer forward Joaquin Maud (Cordoba, Argentina/Coronado) are the Hawai’i Pacific Health Silversword Female and Male Athletes of the Week for competition between Sept. 26 and Oct. 2
Bowers scored three of the Silverswords’ five goals to help the Silverswords start their Pacific West Conference season at 2-0. She scored two goals in their 3-0 win over Academy of Art on Wednesday then had the insurance goal in Saturday’s victory of Dominican. Bowers was named the PacWest Player of the Week for her efforts.
Maud scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in Wednesday’s 3-2 win over Academy of Art. The sophomore headed in a corner kick in the 76th minute to give the ‘Swords a 3-1 lead at the time. Maud’s first goal of the season, which was the second of his career, helped the ‘Swords win their first match of the season.
