Amy Atwell was honored Monday as the Big West Conference Player of Week. This is a historic moment for the UH women’s basketball program.
Atwell was awarded Player of the Week for the fourth time this season. Altwell has set the Rainbow Wahine program record for POW awards.
Atwell was the top scorer for the Rainbows last weekend. She led the Wahine in scoring in both road victories over Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State. Atwell totaled 43 points and 17 rebounds. Atwell scored 25 points, 12 rebounds and hit a 3-pointer to break a 64-64 tie. This was her 4th double/double of the year, leading the Rainbow Wahine’s victory over Long Beach State.
Saturday’s victory over LBSU raised the Rainbow Wahine record to 12-8 overall. They stand at 8-2 in Big West Conference play. The ‘Bows are all by themself at the top of the conference standings.
The Rainbow Wahine will hosts a pair games this week. UC San Diego will be up first, at SimpliFi Arena, Stan Sheriff Center at 7 p.m. Thursday.
